Second Challenge Nissan 2006 race in Portugal

The Terras d'El Rei Rally took place on the last 22nd and 23rd April. This rally, the results of which were taken into account for the Spanish Off-Road Vehicle Rally Championship general score, was part of the Nissan 2006 Challenge competition, in wich the Nissan Pick-up sponsored by IDASA rides.

This rally, that took place over the weekend in Portuguese land in unfavorable weather conditions, was won by the Portuguese Pedro Trancha (Mitsubishi Pajero). The sponsored Pick-up finished the race in 10th place, which is a satisfying rank bearing in mind the hard conditions of the route and the high level of competence. Besides, as the Pick-up finished in a better place related to the first race, the team is very encouraged to keep on working to improve the results obtained so far. Pilots drove over 600 km in 2 days, which were marked by the harshness of the race, as the main ingredients were rain and mud. An example of the status of the field is the air vent intalled in the motor by mechanics to avoid the problems of last season, when the motor stopped while the truck was crossing a river.

OAnother clear example of the toughness of the rally that took place in Portugal at the end of the last month is that only 42 out of 90 registered participants managed to cross the finish line. Now, it is time for the team to prepare for the next event, which will be held about the middle of June, where they will have to face the field of the famous Baja Aragón route.
