First race of the Challenge Nissan 2006

The Nissan Pick Up sponsored by Ingeniería de Aplicaciones, S.A. made its debut on the last 1st and 2nd April in the Ramblas de Huercal-Overa TT Rally, the first race forming part of the Challenge Nissan 2006.

The Rambas de Huercal-Overa 1st TT Rally opened the Challenge Nissan 2006, as well as the Spanish Off-Road Vehicle Championship. The Pick-up sponsered by IDASA-JENOPTIK managed to finish in 12th place after overcoming hard and diverse obstacles. The high temperatures of the weekend, together with the toughness and dryness of the ground were, among others, the main difficulties encountered by the team. The high temperatures affected pilots, whereas dust and a tough and rocky route had a negative effect on the truck's mechanics. In fact, several teams decided to retire before ending the race. In spite of the circumnstances, the team expected to perform a good race before starting, but a mechanical problem in the clutch hampered the truck to ride at its full capacity. Besides, in a given stretch, the truck cought up with another participant and had to follow its trail during more than 40 km. Even so, the results were not that bad, as the pilot was able to rank 12th and obtain scores for the general placings, which is quite possitive given the circumstances. Once the rally finished, both the pilot and the copilot were satisfied with their performance in the rally rode in Almeria and are still excited by the idea of improving their scores in the following competitions.
